The Delirium

In response to today’s ‘dailyprompt’ I’m posting one of my favourite compositions.

The Delirium

Sometimes you dunno what you feel exactly,

It’s a delirious state..

Your mind is neither confused nor sure..

Your heart doesn’t know what to wish for,

You ain’t sad exactly,

You’re just numb perhaps..

There’s this deep chain of thoughts engulfing you,

Making you feel afraid at times,

And at times joyous,

The series of thoughts wherein you create your own world,

Wherein things are not really sane or very practical,

Yet everything’s perfect.!

You ain’t sad exactly,

You’re just lost perhaps..

Just then there’s this flash of magic,

Or a sweet gesture,

Or a great occasion,

Or a special person,

Who knocks those thoughts out cold,

A gloomy face suddenly smiles wide,

A wandering soul finds its path,

The world seems colorful again,

You feel alive once again..!

You ain’t on top of the world exactly,

You’re just smiling perhaps..

Suddenly a thought, “Why him? How did he manage to do that?”

Out of nowhere an ordinary guy becomes special,

Out of nowhere you find yourself happy..

Anything he does amazes you,

Even the silliest of jokes,

The smallest of helps &

The simplest of smiles..

He walks into your life as easily as a thought,

One fine day he manages to sneak into each of your thoughts..

You dunno what to say,

Or how to smile or laugh or blush..

You’re not in love exactly,

You’re just about to fall perhaps..!
